Our Weekend!

This past weekend was another long weekend for us. My husband has every other Friday off which is completely amazing, it's such a good work environment and I feel like we get so much more done. We started our weekend on Thursday evening with a visit to Postino, it has been recommended to us by lots of people so I knew we had to go see what all the hype was about! It really did not disappoint. We made it just in time to get the '$5 until 5pm' deal - all of their glasses of wine are $5 until 5pm - which is kind of amazing when some of the glasses are around $12 regular price. I had a glass of Hungarian Furmint for the first time and it was so delicious! We got a charcuterie board to share - also delish.

I also found this little guy at my local Target - now they didn't have him a couple of weeks ago in all of the madness but it seems that people have started to return things. My theory is that people who bought Lilly items to sell on ebay are needing to return things to Target that they can't sell online. So definitely do a sweep of your target if you missed out on anything!

Friday was pretty quiet for us, we just sat around in our pj's eating soup and watching TV... super relaxing!

Saturday we headed to Prescott, AZ, it was so awesome and completely different to Phoenix which was a welcome change! We drove along Mount Vernon Ave and basically salivated over all of the gorgeous homes, so much character and history! Sadly that's something that I feel Phoenix is missing. The Courthouse Plaza area is so different to anything else that I've seen in Arizona so far.

We stumbled across a Cinco de Mayo festival which was so awesome, they had a mariachi band and some ladies dressed really traditionally doing the Mexican hat dance - their outfits were so beautiful! Also a great park for seeing tonnes of cute dogs. We then had lunch Prescott Brewing Company which was good and pretty reasonably priced.

After lunch we drove to Goldwater Lake, you can hire kayaks and canoes which we will definitely be doing next time. It was really nice to see some water and some large trees (things you don't see to often in Scottsdale unless there is a golf course involved!).

On Sunday we took Dixie for a walk at Papago Park, then I did some baking on in the afternoon. I made these Blueberry Puff Pastry Pies that I found on pinterest, they came out quite well, although slightly more puffy... I think I left some of the edges a bit too wide. They still tasted really good and I'll definitely be making them again!

Sunday night we watched Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver - loving this HBO trifecta!

Hope you had an awesome weekend! Lucy x

  1. Visiting from the link up, I've always wanted to visit Arizona! So awesome that every second week is a long weekend. My mom works half days on Friday and I think it's such a huge job perk!

  2. Charcuterie boards are my favorite! I'd rather have that than an actual meal!

  3. Hey girl! Thanks for the sweet comment on my post today! You may or may not already know this, but you're a "no reply blogger" which means that when you comment on a post and someone replies back to you via email, you never get the message! I did a post on this a while ago so you can see how to fix it. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!!

  7. Postino is the best!! And I feel ya, Phoenix is such a young city that it doesn't really have the charm of historic and old neighborhoods!
