Our Weekend

So I'm getting this up a little late for an 'Our Weekend' type post. Maybe I'm just determined to extend the previous weekend vibes through to hump day. Surely you'll forgive me?

This past (long) weekend Jon and I drove up to Sedona. I've been building Sedona up as 'one of my favorite places on earth' to Jon for the last 5 years and it did not disappoint!

After checking Yelp (because bad food is bad) we got lunch at a tiny little doner kebab shop called Doner Empire, it was pretty good. Fresh, clean, and slightly less touristy than the rest of town. After lunch we walked around a little bit and found our way to The Sedona Fudge Company - best dark chocolate covered strawberry of my life! Then drove to The Chapel of The Holy Cross on the south side of town. This is something that took my eye last time I was here and I didn't get to go!

I'm sure I overheard someone say that the Chapel still runs a non-denominational sevice on Monday evening (could be wrong!). Such an inspiring piece of architecture, so glad that we were able to sit and visit. I also loved this sign as we were leaving the church.

Next we stopped in at Bell Rock and had a short walk, this was Jon's first time in Sedona. Definitely recommend this spot, it's pretty accessible and the view is fantastic!

On Saturday we were feeling a little ambitious so we decided to try out Piestewa (formerly Squaw) Peak. We did not make it the whole way to the top due to a bit of heat and lack of water (there's always next time!) but the views were amazing! I've marked the spot we reached and am determined to beat it next time!

On Sunday we were feeling decently lazy! I cooked some chicken noodle soup and we watched the latest ep of games of thrones and called it a night! I also saw the promo for the new Bachelorette! #teamKaitlyn - I'm tempted to boycott the season if those boys pick the wrong gal!

Hope you had a fantastic weekend!
